The Daily Dose

Back spasms kicked my ass.  When I would move the wrong way, I would spend days lying on the floor.  My lower back would feel like it was being TASERED.  I had to adjust how I moved and backed off some hobbies to prevent the spasms.  The DAILY DOSE fixed my back and changed my life.

I graduated college with an accounting degree. Anyone who knows me would agree that crunching numbers, sitting still for hours, & me are not a great combination.  Somehow a CPA firm hired me.

During that LONG year, I may have been the worst accountant in the state of Pennsylvania. Mercifully I switched career paths and found an opportunity in outside sales for a radio network.  One minor PROBLEM – I had ZERO formal sales training and no idea what I was doing.  The DAILY DOSE gave me the selling skills I needed and brought my career to a new level.

These two examples show the POWER of the DAILY DOSE.

The DAILY DOSE is the equivalent of the 6 yard draw play in football.  Not flashy, but HIGHLY effective.  A game changer when done consistently.

The DAILY DOSE is this:

  • Set a GOAL (STRENGTHEN my back & LEARN to sell)
  • Set a TIME FRAME (Back = ASAP; Sales = 1 Year)
  • Determine What ACTION needs to be done DAILY to SUCCEED (Back = Stretching; Sales = Study)

The DAILY DOSE is written about in one of my favorite books of all time:  “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. This book is a game changer.  Highly recommended.

My DAILY DOSE for my lower back is a series of short stretching routines.  I use these routine at various points in the day:  Early morning, before I step on the jiu jitsu mat, post-training, and before I goto bed.

Sounds like a lot, but it’s not.  Takes me less than 30 minutes  total each day.  The RESULTS?  I have not had a back spasm in OVER 10 years.  And that includes me getting flipped, sweeped, and smashed into to the Jiu Jitsu mat on a regular basis by 25 year olds who outweigh me by 40 pounds.

My DAILY DOSE for CAREER advancement has been listening to audio books and courses in the car during drive time.  I also start each day in the early AM by reading for 20-30 minutes from thought provoking books.  I have been practicing this DAILY DOSE for the past 7 years.  The RESULTS? I have learned more from this ROUTINE than I did during 4 years of college.

They key phrase is DAILY.  What you do DAILY becomes AUTOMATIC.  You create a POSITIVE habit.  Each day your HABIT pulls you a little bit closer to your GOAL.  Over the course of time you make HUGE progress.

Each day you become BETTER.  Each day you become more REFINED.  Each day you become more RELEVANT.

Each day you take a step away from average and closer to  REMARKABLE.
