Enter the Basics

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

When you focus on the basics, the complicated falls in line.

I am working on refining the BASICS in the 3 main areas of my life:

  • Family
  • Professional
  • Jiu Jitsu

Family

Raising 3 young kids is an experience.

The experience is both a gift and a challenge.

Distractions are everywhere.

The BASIC Skill I’m Working On:

  • Being fully present in the moment

My goal is to spend undistracted, quality time with my family.

TIME is our most valuable asset.

Rick Warren wrote, “Your time is your life…it’s the greatest gift you can give someone.”

My goal is to give my kids my presence over more presents.

Investing undistracted, quality time with my family now will keep us close after our kids are grown and on their own.

Basic Takeaway: Quality time spent with my family is time well spent.

Professional

Sales is my profession.

The customers I deal with are educated and busy.

If I don’t bring value, they will shut me out of their world.

The best way to be RELEVANT is to be valuable.

The BASIC Skill I’m Working On:

  • Deliver VALUE to every customer interaction.

My goal is to help my customers: be more profitable, save time, and better serve their customers.

When I bring value to my customers, everyone wins.

Basic Takeaway: The more value I deliver, the easier selling becomes.

Jiu Jitsu

Raising a FAMILY and performing at a high level in my PROFESSION requires:

  • Energy
  • Focus
  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Timing
  • Courage
  • Flexibility
  • An Open Mind.

All of these skills are developed in Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu is built on a set of street tested BASIC techniques.

I realized my BASIC techniques needed work.

The BASIC skill I’m working on:

I hired a coach.

We meet each week for a 1 on 1 training.

Our sessions focus 100% on refining the BASICS of the Gracie system.

Basic TakeawayBasic Jiu Jitsu will save you in difficult situations.

Feeling stuck in a certain area of your life?

Ignoring the basics will make you AVERAGE.

Mastering the BASICS will make your journey REMARKABLE.

Great quote to start off with….nice way to tie it in to life.

  3. A concise and clear treatise one the finer points. It’s great to see where your thoughts on liife, work and jiu jitsu intersect. This is as honest and basic as it gets.

Great training today too-thanks for the roll!
